During my time at Sheridan College studying wedding photography, I had the pleasure of listening and learning from a very special guest speaker by the name of Krista Fox.  Krista Fox is an amazing photographer who specializes in wedding photography and has gone to many destination weddings in many countries.  She has a unique and beautiful style and I learned a lot from her.  Krista inspired me very much and from her I learned that it's ok to push the limit to get those magical images.  I noticed from several of her beautiful wedding images that standing back further when photographing a bride and groom and showing more can also create amazing images.  Shooting close ups nice and tight is nice but standing back much further can be real nice as well.  Not sure that I would be as brave as Krista and climb mountains and go to the extent she does but I still learned alot from her that I will try to incorportae in my photography.  Thank you Krista for taking the time to attend one of our classes and for sharing with us your amazing work.

WEDDINGS

I was asked by a bride to take pictures of her rings that belonged to her mother and also her husbands wedding band.  She had given me a Pinterest image she wanted me to duplicate the best I could and so this is it.  It turned out very nice and is very close to what she wanted.  She wasn't able to loan me a Bible so I used my son Derick's Bible that we ended up with after he passed in February 2010.  So this image is very special to not only the bride and groom but also to me.

I took this image of the bride's pearl necklace that was left for her by her grandmother who passed away shortly before the wedding day.  These were genuine pearls that were nice to work with.  I find that sometimes working with fake pearls it is difficult because they can be a bit stiff, but these ones were a bit more flexible and had nice weight to them. The other plus to using real pearls is that you can get a beautiful shine on the pearls.  For this image I had to move the brides dresser over towards the window a bit and angle it so I could get the light I wanted to achieve.  When shooting indoors, as much as I can I like to try and use natural window light.

Now let's go back to Denise Cooperwhite photography

Weddings are not always as traditional as they used to be and now days many couples like to do things a little different.  In this situation, the bride happens to be a professional clown and these were her two pairs of shoes for her special day.  She wore the white pumps for the ceremony and after the cocktails she showed up at the reception sporting her very big and bright red and white clown shoes.  You should have seen the guests laughing when she walked in.  Having said that many were not that surprised by this as the bride is well known to have a great sense of humour.

I had the opportunity to shoot a wedding at this church in the town of Acton Vale, Quebec where I grew up. This very old church was built in 1859 is actualy where my mom and I went for Sunday mass when I was in grade school.  The name of the  chuch is Saint-Andre d'Acton Vale and is located in the small town about one hour east of Montreal.  You can probably tell by this image that they have kept very good care of the church.  I enjoyed shooting the wedding here because the inside of the church is spectacular and I could get some great shots of the bride and groom from above as well as from below.

Wedding

Here is the bride doing her own make up on her wedding day and doing a great job of it. She seemed pretty calm considering she was about to walk down the isle in less than one hour and unfortunately her mother ended up in the hospital the night before.  I am pretty sure she has alot on her mind and is worried about her mother.  Shooting a wedding is not only about the vows, the kiss and the first dance but also moments like this one where the bride is getting ready.

This is the groom getting ready and his son trying to help with doing up his tie while his other son admits he also has never done up a tie and had no idea how he could be of any help.  I really like this photo of the three of them together.  I have known this groom for many years and his sons since they were born so capturing this wedding day was an honour for me.
